Where's the Funny?

It wasn't here last night, that's for sure! Class was ROUGH! I was still sore from our victory at the Bruce Head Bowl (the annual two-hand touch football game played by everyone at work.), and I was feeling a little run down and tired. Not to mention that class was hotter than Hades!

I don't think that anyone in the class was feelin' the funny last night though. We were all dragging and very hesitant to get on stage. I think that it may be partly due to the fact that our recital is only a few weeks away, and it's starting to sink in now. We're really only days away from performing on stage! No breaking out of scene, no "Can i do that over again?" no more "I need someone to come up on stage with me." It's gonna be on! And people will be watching us!

I think everything is gonna work out fine, but I'm still anxious...

Perhaps I should just get up there and do this...

I soooh wish I could be there to throw out the ocassional "triad!" and "befuddled consternation!" and cheer you on, of course. You're gonna do great.

When does your recital take place? I know Meryl and Brad would probably like to come with me.

I think you should sing a crazy German song....

Comedy is a cruel mistress...

Seriously, though - I've been to a few recitals for the improv classes and I can tell you that the audience is WAY impressed that you're even standing up there on the stage. No one will be all critical and judgmental of a few flat one liners. AND it's a small room. So don't worry! The funny will come when you need it most.

(and I'm not just being nice to get an invite...)

The funny will forever be just beyond your reach. The best advice you could receive is to viciously kick yourself in the junk....that always gets a laugh or two.

Thanks V and K! I still don't know our recital date, but will know next Monday, and I'll be sure to let y'all know when it is.

Now, to Mr. Junk Puncher: While groin punches are almost always comedy gold, I think it'd wear a bit thin - on the audience AND my progeny producers - to jock box for 60 minutes...
